Wii U's Operating System
You know, besides Miiverse's unveiling at the Pre-E3 2012 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo hasn't ever shown the Operating system when you boot the console.
with it launching in a 38 days, do you think theirs going to be a walkthrough or perhaps a video that shows features like they did the Gamepad and 3DS?
it makes you wonder:
How do you sign up for miiverse anyway?
How do you open different applications like Nintendo TVii and eShop
So close, yet so much mystery, No?

They are probably going to show it off close to launch. It is more than likely going to be a master piece of a operating system considering that it takes up 1 GB of RAM which is enough to operate windows 7.

I don't think the OS will make use of 1 GB of RAM, more than likely that's for multi-tasking and can later be used for more demanding games.MBParadox wrote:They are probably going to show it off close to launch. The applications that may use RAM for multitasking are going to take from the RAM reserved for games more than likely and not the RAM reserved for the OS. But you could still be right. And Nintendo can scale RAM usage just like Microsoft and Sony have been doing.

Re: Wii U's Operating System
The thing is, even with 1/2 a GB of RAM, the 360 was still capable of effective multi-tasking, although I wouldn't say it's on the same level as what we saw in the Miiverse trailer, but still more than enough. Now that we have 1 GB reserved for the OS, it's more than likely in case there's heavy multi-tasking and/or to be used by developers.MBParadox wrote:The applications that may use RAM for multitasking are going to take from the RAM reserved for games more than likely and not the RAM reserved for the OS. That is a fairly good point.

Re: Wii U's Operating System
I am eager to see what this OS looks like and how it operates in conjunction with the GamePad.
