Discussion: Wii U Storage Solution
I don't know how many people are planning to take advantage of Nintendo Network Premium, but I know I am, for that 10% in points to go towards DLC and maybe even whole games if I save up enough. With that being said, LORD knows 32 gigs won't be enough for most of us here to download all of the games we're looking forward to. I'm lean towards an external drive because it's the most reliable for now. What are you guys looking to use for downloads?

When I get more money, and I see a need for an external hard drive, i will go for one.

Same here, assuming I decide to go digital. I'm not convinced at this point, honestly.loganku wrote:When I get more money, and I see a need for an external hard drive, i will go for one.

If and/or when you decide to buy an external HDD for the Wii U, how big a capacity will you go for?

Are you asking me? I honestly have no clue... I really know nothing about digital storage, but I do know that 1 tb+ drives really aren't that expensive, and I can't imagine needing more than that.DragonChi wrote:If and/or when you decide to buy an external HDD for the Wii U, how big a capacity will you go for?

The question was directed at you, yes, but at the same time it is also there for anyone else to answer as well.
As for me, I will at LEAST be getting one as big as 1TB. Which in all likelihood will be more than enough.

I was planning to go 500GB, because I'm actually interested in downloading my games. But you can find 1TB HDDs that aren't expensive? Send me a LINK!

They all cost around 100 bucks, that's not affordable, when you're already spending like 600 on the system + games.
But what about buying a SATA drive and putting it in a case, how would that work and would it be cheaper?

Using Ext. HDD, it is more than enough to run games even at USB 2.0 speed, however for those looking for more speed I hear that the SD slot is sdxc enabled, so theoretically you could put a 2TB sd card on it in the future

I'm pretty sure the disc read speed on 7th generation disks would be slower than Using USB 2.0, so there should be no problems Digitally Downloading full retail games on ext. hard-drives.
