Re: What you think about Metroid Other M
Samus is cheap. lol jk jk
Edit: Professionalism ON.
Well regarding what some of my friends say. (They totally hate Other M) I am still going to play it. I can't judge a game without playing it... Except for Kinect games.

Why would they say that? because of Brawl? cuz shes ok in Brawl.
must be another explanation.
Re: What you think about Metroid Other M
I haven't played all the way through Other M (I'm maybe a third of the way through, and took a break to play through the Prime trilogy), but the way I see it, Other M had some cool idea, but terrible execution. They tried to make everything more complex and cool with motion controls, but handicapped it by using only the wiimote and no nunchuck, severely limiting your actions. And the whole "point the wiimote toward the screen to move into first person mode," was cool, but felt tacked on and gimmicky. Like they were just trying to say "see, see? It's like Metroid Prime, but with both first AND third person perspectives," in all the ads.
Also, it felt like so much was taken away in the name of simplification. The 8-way directionals, the not being able to move in first-person-mode, the automatically homing beams... it all felt like it took away from the Metroid experience. Which I found really ironic, since Other M was supposedly trying to bring back the retro elements of Super Metroid.
So in conclusion, despite some cool ideas, I feel Other M is a step backward. Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were good GameCube games, Prime 3 was a cutting-edge shooter, and Other M felt liked it belonged on the N64. Anyway, that's just my opinion of it. I'm still having moderate fun with it, though.

<---- liked "Other M". Some things annoyed me though, like switching between 1st and 3rd POV.

I bolded things that were nit picks. There is no need to use the nunchuck in a SIDE SCROLLER. Yes while there were some rooms that were open, it was still a side scroller. Also, not being able to move in first person doesn't mean anything as the game is a third person side scroller, not a first person adventurer. "Automatically homing beams" for one isn't proper grammar nor makes sense. It's either homing or it's not. The game targeted monsters for you, which is why the beams were "homing" even though they weren't.xwatchmanx wrote:I haven't played all the way through Other M (I'm maybe a third of the way through, and took a break to play through the Prime trilogy), but the way I see it, Other M had some cool idea, but terrible execution. Re: What you think about Metroid Other M
Um... it definitely wasn't a side scroller, dude. A side scroller is a side scroller, and Other M definitely wasn't a side scroller at all. The vast majority of rooms involved moving in 3 dimensions, so idk where you're getting the side scroller idea.FaytSaotome wrote:

Not moving in first person wouldn't be an issue if it was like Zelda, where you only needed to do it to snipe faraway targets, or something like that. But Other M required first person for shooting missiles, which was absolutely frustrating in the middle of battle. It looked really cool, I'll give it that but it was an absolute nuisance.
Ironically your bit about my "grammatically incorrect" use of "automatic homing" is a nitpick in itself. Also, it's not grammatically incorrect. Many games feature optional homing (such as the beams in Metroid Prime, which only homed if you charged them). And even if that wasn't true, "grammatically incorrect" wouldn't be the right term for it.
Also, I think you forget that this thread is titled "What do you THINK about Metroid: Other M." It's an opinion thread, and I listed problems I personally had with the game. It's silly for you to say that I can't think those things because you consider them to be "nitpicks" (when, to me, they are VERY big deals that affect my gameplay experience).
Re: What you think about Metroid Other M
I find it interesting that most people are saying that. Personally, the dodging was one of the things I liked. It made the battles feel cinematic in their own way, with the dramatic slow motion dodges and stuff.Nin10doUltra wrote:The Dodging is what i didnt like
