Metroid Wii U [OT]
Since we have threads like this for Zelda and F-Zero, I figured why not one for Metroid? I can imagine Metroid has a TON of different expectations from different people, especially after the mixed bag that Other M was.
Personally, I'd love to see a 3rd person over the shoulder shooter, akin to Gears of War or Kid Icarus: Uprising. This would allow them to combine the best of the shooter elements of Prime along with the retro platforming elements that Other M tried to recapture. I also would prefer it to use the Wiimote and nunchuck as opposed to the UPad, since it worked so perfectly in Prime 3 and Prime Trilogy (which I just started playing a few days ago, after I got lucky enough to find a like-new copy of Prime Trilogy at GameStop for only $53). But perhaps it would be better off with the UPad for the platforming elements I described?
What do you guys want to see?

Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
Would you rather it use the UPad, or the Wiimote/nunchuck? Or maybe have an option for both?Nin10doUltra wrote:to be honest, i want a Prime Feel on Wii U
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
Well they will most likely use the Upad, since all Nintendo exclusive usually like to use the core features of their systems.
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
True, but they also said they think they're going to stick with the Wii Motion + for the next Zelda... and that was after the Wii U was announced.ImmaGamerGuy wrote:Well they will most likely use the Upad, since all Nintendo exclusive usually like to use the core features of their systems.
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
The new Zelda will most likely use motion + but it will have the option for Upad. You just wait.
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
That would be pretty cool!ImmaGamerGuy wrote:The new Zelda will most likely use motion + but it will have the option for Upad. You just wait.
Either way though, I doubt Nintendo intends to phase out their motion controls anytime soon. I think they'll err more towards motion+ for Zelda and maybe Metroid, and stick to the UPad for Mario and most of their other IPs. Pokemon (or any other RPG) would be pretty cool with the UPad, too.

Seeing how they made the tech demo of Zelda use a Upad, I would totally love to see a game similar to the features the tech demo. and most likely will. Nintendo is always like this, They innovate and then they use their exclusives to take advantage of their innovations.
Trust me, Zelda Will most likely be more about Upad than +
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
Eh, I honestly don't think so. After all, remember the 2000 space world Zelda demo, which featured "realistic" Link and Ganon fighting? A couple years later, we got Wind Waker with the cel shades.ImmaGamerGuy wrote:

Anyway, all I'm saying is that tech demos are just that: tech demos. They usually don't have much bearing on actual games that come out. Just my opinion.

But the changes where only in the graphics.
Wind Waker stayed true to the Gamecube Pad
Twilight Princess to the Wii Mote
Skyward Sword to the Wii mote +
Wii U Zelda most likely going to follow the same pattern of it's predecessors and use the Upad more than +
Edit: And Gamecube Twilight Princess stayed true to Gamecube (cuz its gamecube lol)
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
Yeah, except that Nintendo specifically said they want to stick with the motion plus for the next Zelda. if they hadn't said anything, I would agree.

Another Other M because I am one of the few that didn't nit pick 2 seconds of the game.

Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
I think Other M really had something, but it was just poorly executed and way oversimplified. They tried to make the controls as simple as possible, but the gameplay and story ridiculously complex, which I don't think really worked.FaytSaotome wrote:Another Other M because I am one of the few that didn't nit pick 2 seconds of the game.

Still uses the old controller, but you get the deal.

A-freaking-men. Though I would really love to see Metroid 3DS, as well. It would be interesting to see what the difference is going to be between Metroid 3DS and Wii U, since the 3DS can basically output full console experiences (albeit with less graphical power and only one analog stick). Perhaps one will give us a Metroid Prime shooter type experience, and the other will give us an Other M platformer type experience? I wouldn't mind another game similar to Other M in play style on the 3DS.shinriley wrote:"What would you like to see in Metroid Wii U?"

Lol I was wondering when someone would say something like this.
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
You know I think it's time for Prime to get a Metroid Hunters style online mode. I know a lot of people think that adding that would take away from the single player experience, but I don't think it would, or maybe if they don't have a versus mode perhaps a horde style mode, I'd like that too.
I know the multi-player in Prime 2 was pretty bad, but that was because there was only one character to play as, and uh, lock on system lol. Maybe they could even have it be like Star Wars Battlefront 2 with the space battles where you can land on the enemies ship and try to destroy it from the inside. Or maybe that'd be more suited for a Star Fox game?

Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
I was thinking that the next Metroid should have the ability to switch between third person and first person views. Third person for action sequences and first person for exploration and puzzle solving.

Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
How about a compromise: A third person over-the-shoulder setup, like Gears of War or Kid Icarus: Uprising? That would allow for a balance for shooting and action.MBParadox wrote:I was thinking that the next Metroid should have the ability to switch between third person and first person views. Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
Wouldn't what I said be a compromise of Action and environmental puzzles? That is what metroid mostly consists of.

Yes, but it would be irritating to have to keep switching between first and third person. Remember Metroid Other M?MBParadox wrote:Wouldn't what I said be a compromise of Action and environmental puzzles? That is what metroid mostly consists of.
Re: Metroid Wii U [OT]
I have not got around to playing that yet, heard its cheap nowadays though.
