PS4 Development Kit Details Leaked "Apparently"

It looks like some of the details for the hardware and software specs for the PlayStation 4 have made their way online.

The PS4, codenamed Orbis, is expected to be officially announced in January and then debuted later in the year, most likely at E3 in June. Developer kits have been sent out and some of the details of the new system have been leaked. Here you go:

"The dev kits are based on AMD’s A10 APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), which combines both the CPU and GPU in a single unit.

Sources add that the PS4 will include the AMD Radeon HD 7670 video system, based on Turks XT architecture, featuring a 128-bit Bus and GDDR5 1GB of GDDR5 video memory. Each unit will come equipped with either 8GB or 16GB of system RAM, as well as Blu-ray and 256GB hard drives. Sony’s goal, say the anonymous sources, is to run games at 60 frames per second and 1080p resolution."

Solid information or total pile of crap? What do you guys think?

To be honest, i really doubt it will have 16Gb of system ram, even 8Gb seems a little too much.

I doubt it but if they do then they've still messed up. This is awesome if they can run it 60 FPS 1080p all the time but think how much this thing will cost and ,if they go the route Nintendo and they themselves have gone before, how much money they'll lose from making this thing if they sell at a loss. I hope they find a good balance of decent pricing and awesome or close to these specs. If so then the PS4 is mines.

I actually really doubt these are the specs they'll have in the final product.

Fresh from a $6.4Billion loss, it would be stupid to do such a thing.

I'm calling bull. There is no way a large company like sony would shoot themselves in the foot like this again. I mean 16 GB OF RAM!? This thing would cost a fortune, and if they don't give gamers a big incentive to buy then Sony will probably go bankrupt, what with their losses in Billions and all other segments of Sony failing (TV's, Sound systems, etc).

Even for the other "specs" making their rounds about the interwebs about the resolution being 4k, as Penn and Teller would say BULLSHIT!

It would cost them too much, noone would buy it and they'd go bankrupt.

If anything i'd say its gonna have about 3 or 4Gb of ram, a GpGPU not that much better than the Wii U and it will obviously come with a tablet controller -_-

I'm not sure even that would work if all the third parties are on board with Wii U AND Nintendo has their First Party Titles. They might have to (For once) think of something unique to create, rather than just follow a new trend.

If they do do something very unique AND innovative then some of my respect for them will return but with the Move and PSAS I just can't take it anymore even though the game is pretty fun (still lacks the lasting effect of SSB). But yeah this is pretty bogus and with all the PS Drones drooling over these supposed specs they're gonna be very disappointed when the PS4 doesn't turn out to be as powerful as they thought it was. And they'll be pretty much playing catch up since the Wii U will be out for close to year when the PS4 releases.

You're very right and they're not doing it just to do it but the shareholders mostly force them to. They want more money (obviously) so they look at the biggest thing catching the consumer's eyes and tell Sony to make their own version of it so hopefully they can get some of that money as well. Sony and Microsoft ONLY care about money while ( and this is just my opinion) Nintendo wants money but at the same time care about their consumers and fanbase on a deeper level. They run themselves like a family buisness and(mostly) everyone who buys from them is part of it.

Sony learned their pricing faults with vita, this could kill them

now, yes theirs Dev kits out for "Orbis"
but no, PS4 should be under 400

Wii U took that hit so consumers could afford it.

Sony can too.

This is true, but with the specs people are stating, this isn't a price that would do well with the company or the share holders, they would want to make money, if they sell it for $400 it'll have significantly lower specs.

This is true, but with the specs people are stating, this isn't a price that would do well with the company or the share holders, they would want to make money, if they sell it for $400 it'll have significantly lower specs.

If sony wants to /beat/ nintendo, they need to offer MORE for less
if its any lower than wii u's specs then sony will be in trouble.
